Recently I wrote a blog on Do’s and Don’ts – or rather, Shoulds and Shouldn’ts – for blogs. So now that you have started your fabulous blog, how should you promote it? Here are some ways to share your blog with interested readers:
- If you have your own website, add an RSS Feed subscription button.
- Include a link to your blog on your business cards and in your email signature.
- Publish the link to your blog in appropriate Groups on LinkedIn.
- Display the link in your LinkedIn status update.
- Promote your blog in your newsletter.
- Ask vertical organizations to link to your blog. So if your blog is devoted to local events, ask the local newspaper to include a link to your blog on their website.
- List your blog on blog directories like Technorati or Blogorama
- If you have a Twitter account, Tweet the link to your followers.
- Publish the link on your Facebook page.
- Ensure that your blog is SEO (search engine optimization) friendly.
- Seek reciprocity. If you plug a business, a person, product or service, ask the recipient of your plug to re-post your blog and to help you promote it via their social media channels.
- Write a guest blog for another site.
- Comment on other peoples’ blogs. This will help raise your SEO results.
- Post as often as you can. The more you write, the higher the SEO results you’ll achieve. This will make you – and your blog – easier for interested readers to find.
